La Patrona Philosophy

Everything you need to know about our Company
Bonnie Birkel, La Patrona Restaurant

My passion for food goes back to my earliest childhood where the memories of following my father through our massive vegetable garden are crystal clear. My youth was spent under the tutelage of parents who loved the land, gardens, and livestock that fed us. They instilled in me a deep respect for and knowledge of growing, processing, and preparation of what we ate.

Naturally, I gravitated toward the study of nutrition and cooking. Food is the common thread that runs through all of our lives. I have been incredibly blessed in my life to have had the opportunity to travel the world and experience the culture of sharing food around the globe. Whether it be a campfire breakfast on the Serengeti or a seven course dinner at a three star Michelin restaurant in Alsace, sharing a meal is sharing a part of your soul.

I became "La Patrona" in Texas. My husband had a large registered cattle ranch and I became "the food and beverage manager" by default. We had literally thousands of guests a year and nearly a hundred employees. Every event was an opportunity for me to indulge my love of cooking and hospitality. Feeding a thousand people a seated steak dinner under the stars was not easy, but our team helped me make it happen. It was under these circumstances I earned the name, La Patrona.

La Patrona is more than a restaurant.  La Patrona is my dream of sharing what I have learned about food and sharing my philosophy of hospitality. Our food is not contrived. It is good honest food. It is the food I would serve you if you came to my home and sat at my table. It is food you can eat every day because it is real food. I believe it is my responsibility to utilize the best ingredients available.

Our team works hard to source only the best ingredients and let the food speak for itself.

Our Mision

I have very strong beliefs about food and hospitality. Our goal is to provide our guests with a memorable dining experience every time they sit at our table.
This means that:

  • We strive to prepare your food thoughtfully, with attention to detail, and with respect for the ingredients. If you have dietary restrictions, please feel comfortable to let us know. We will do our best to accommodate your needs. If you have a longing for some special meal, we will work to make that meal happen.
  • We work hard to provide exceptional and personalized service in an atmosphere that is elegant, but not pretentious.
  • We believe it is essential to source responsibly and buy the best quality, healthiest ingredients we can find. Therefore, our menu changes seasonally and is influenced by what is freshest at any given time.
We believe we should treat every guest as a friend and every friend as a family member. It is our goal that, through our attention to detail in all aspects of your meal at La Patrona, you can feel the spirit of love of food come alive.
